The IICRC approved Health and Safety Technician (HST) certification covers occupational health and safety. Upon completion of the class you will be able to demonstrate competency in cleaning, maintenance, and restoration industries in compliance with the Global Harmonized System (GHS) and health and safety principles.

The HST certification promotes the importance of hazard and risk assessments and implementing controls on the identified hazards. The hierarchy of hazard controls is emphasized so that eliminating, reducing, and controlling hazards will become the focus of health and safety instead of just regulatory compliance.

Emphasis is placed on:

  • Engineering and administrative controls

  • Work practices

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) used in each specific industry or trade

Upon achieving the IICRC Health and Safety certification, you demonstrate you have the skills, knowledge, and awareness needed to save lives and prevent work-related injuries and illnesses, and recognize and appreciate the value of health and safety on the job.

There will be a number of hands-on exercises over the course of the class.
