The Art of Drying: Practical Psychrometry 1.1 is an instructional course tailored for professionals in the water damage restoration industry. The Art of Drying is based on the established guidelines within the ANSI/IICRC S500 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration. The IICRC approved course delivers an in-depth exploration of the 4 principles of drying:

  • Efficient extraction of excess water

  • Accelerated evaporation techniques

  • Strategic dehumidification practices

  • Optimized temperature control

Additionally, you will develop a clear understanding on the concept of Psychrometry and the five interrelated components and their roles in the drying process:

  • Temperature

  • Relative humidity

  • Specific humidity (grains)

  • Vapor pressure

  • Dew point

To effectively restore water damaged structures and their contents you must thoroughly understand and apply these principles.  The Art of Drying provides detailed insights into each principle, helping you develop your understanding and expertise in both the technical and theoretical aspects of drying buildings.  Students are also introduced to microbial remediation and the effects of secondary damage.

The Art of Drying: Practical Psychrometry 1.1 is a text-based course, with a short quiz at the end of each module.  Completing the course successfully earns 14 IICRC approved Continuing Education credit hours.  It is also excellent preparation for the IICRC-approved Water Restoration Technician (WRT) Certification class or used in your in-house training programs.
